Safarfriendly RISKA Menteng

Assalamu’alaikum, Safarfriendly Friends! Exciting news from RISKA Menteng! On Friday (21/2), they held a pre-Ramadan 2025 study session at Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa with Ustadz Rifky Ja’far Thalib. This session was part of the Pengajian Akhir Pekan RISKA (PARIS), a regular weekly Islamic study event.

A Meaningful Discussion RISKA Menteng: Destiny is Preordained by Allah

From the afternoon, attendees from young people to the elderly gathered at Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa. Ustadz Rifky, who traveled all the way from Malang, opened the session by greeting attendees who brought their children.

“I always say, bring your children to the mosque. They need to grow up in a good environment and be close to righteous people,” he said.

He then discussed the concept of destiny, which he compared to an unfathomable ocean.

“The discussion of destiny is a very deep sea. If one delves too far, they will drown. It remains a mystery,” he explained.

However, despite its mystery, he emphasized that humans must face destiny with optimism.

“Destiny comes unexpectedly. Today you may laugh, tomorrow you may cry. But remember, whatever Allah gives is always good,” he continued.

Destiny is part of the pillars of faith that must be accepted, whether it brings joy or hardship.

The Four Purposes of Destiny in Life

According to Ustadz Rifky, destiny serves four primary purposes in human life:

  1. As a Reminder of Loss
Everything that happens has been written long before we were born. Thus, excessive sorrow over loss should be avoided, as stated in Surah Al-Hadid (22-23).
  2. As a Reminder to Remain Humble
Every blessing is a gift from Allah. Gratitude is the key, not arrogance.
  3. As a Reminder to Stay Calm
In facing trials, one must have good thoughts about Allah.
  4. As a Test
Destiny often serves as a test to determine whether we can remain grateful and patient.

How to Embrace Destiny?

Ustadz Rifky provided key takeaways:

  • Pray Tahajud – “It is impossible for Allah to disappoint those who pray Tahajud.”
  • Pray Consistently – Prayer can change destiny.
  • Be a Good Person – Goodness always returns to those who spread it.
